Webmobril
My experience as a client of Webmobril has been a disaster. I'm a 50-year-old man, and the goal was to develop software that could create avatars based on my manga-style facial features —nothing too complicated, as many websites already offer similar functionality. I'm not wealthy, so I brought in some investors to help fund the development. We hired Webmobril in January 2024, and the problems began almost immediately. I’ll explain all the issues we encountered in the following lines. Summarizing my experience with Webmobril: they consistently delivered poor service, missed deadlines, failed to meet my expectations, and never deliver the product.
Project Description
Avatar Builder – My project is simple: an avatar builder like many others on the market, with the ability to save the image for printing.
Timeline
OCTOBER 2023:The first quotation was made in 2023 for $20,000 USD. JANUARY 2024: I received a promotion from Webmobril sales department, offering 20% off, and I accepted.
- I paid $4,000 USD in February, and $4,000 USD in June 2024.
- The proposal stated that the project would be completed in 100 business days, equivalent to 20 weeks or approximately 5 months. Since February 2, 2024, we have 14 months, and at maximum, we have 20% of the project.
- The proposal said it'll be 4 payments and it'll be for the different sprints.
- That is, payment in advance, and every time 30% of the project is completed, a payment would be made.
- So far, two $4,000 USD payments have been paid, but we don't have 50% of the project, we have 25% maximum.
Github Links I Shared
To make their work easier, I shared with the Webmobril team some links I had found, which included code for creating avatar generators using PNG images and SVG files.
----- Message: -----
Hi,
Take a look at this code, they are using VueJS to build their Avatar maker.
In this code, they are using SVG images:
https://vue-color-avatar.vercel.app/
https://github.com/Codennnn/vue-color-avatar
This is the link I shared previously, they are using PNG images:
https://github.com/miladnia/MangaFace
https://miladnia.ir/MangaFace/
I think the first one is the perfect example because they are using SVG images.
UI/UX
It was a nightmare. I'm a UI/UX designer, and because I was busy, I let them handle the work. But when I received the first drafts, it was clear that they had assigned a very junior UI designer to my project. The design was terrible, and in the end, I ended up doing 70% of the UI myself to get it the way I wanted.
First Email Escalation
Email I sent to Viveka Nand (Associate Vice President-Delivery) on October 6, 2024: ----- Email: -----Hi Vivek, I'm really worried about my project because I see that the capacity of your team is very limited. It seems that your company is not dedicating resources to my project, or, the resources have NO EXPERIENCE at all (they are very Junior programmers). The software I want is not that complicated and there are many on the market. I have shared links with the code and they still don't make any progress. I made the first payment on February 9th and it was many months back and forth with a junior UI designer who did very basic things, then a senior designer got involved and we revised the UI issue in 5 months (in the end it was ME who did a lot of the UI because they never get it), when that could have been done in much less time. For the programming task is the same, I signed the UI approval on June 9 (Second payment) and since then the progress has been very poor (4 months since then). Far from moving forward, they are now questioning whether they will change technology (to Unity). I really can't believe that your team wants to build a Honda Civic with tools to build a Ferrari. They already made a demo (image-2). For me this is not an option because maintenance will be expensive in the future. It looks like the classic situation where a carpenter wants to solve everything with a hammer and a nail because he doesn't know how to use other tools. I'm a person focused on solutions and I already provided GitHub links with the CODE doing what I want, and what they have to do is adapt it to what I want. I shared a link on Basecamp on August 27 and it's clear that they never tested it (image attached). Here you have the link, (this one was made using PNG images): This is the link with the code: https://github.com/miladnia/MangaFace And this is the code execution: https://miladnia.ir/MangaFace/ ** **This is what I want. I really don't get why your team doesn't hear what I say or doesn't see the links I sent. Ok, you want a code using SVG images.... here you have it. This is the link with the code: https://github.com/Codennnn/vue-color-avatar And this is the code execution: https://vue-color-avatar.vercel.app/ **** I think using SVG will be easier for color assignment. I spoke with Seema and I told her: for me it is quite simple, check the links I sent to see what technology they are using. ****With the last link I shared you can do my project with VueJS. Do you see MY FRUSTRATION? I'm sharing the code and they don't see it. To be honest, I would prefer to get my money back and start looking elsewhere because I don't see results. The original plan was to finish in October (8 months), but as I see it'll be months to finish it. I think you have to talk with your team. Please let me know your thoughts. Regards, Rodrigo Gomez

Message on Basecamp in January 12, 2025: ----- Message: -----
Hi Vivek,
Once again I come to you with bad news about your team's incompetence.
3 months ago (on October 6, 2024) I sent you an email explaining the serious situation of the decisions around my Project. I thought they had understood my concern and it seemed that there was progress but what they showed me from that date is minimal.
Your company is not dedicating resources to my Project and is completely stopped. I am a UI/UX designer and I work with programmers and project managers and I know when a Project is completely stopped. Seema is trying to do her best but it is obvious she is not receiving anything from the programmers to show me.
Next February 9 will be a year since I made my first payment and I see with sadness that we are very far from finishing my Project.
I am an ordinary person with limited economic resources and to carry out this project I got investors and obviously I have already lost all credibility with them. Every meeting with them I have to invent stories to cover up the incompetence of webmobril.
I tell you this in capital letters to make it clear, THE CODE I SENT YOUR TEAM in August 2024 IS THE BASIS FOR MAKING MY AVATAR BUILDER, all you have to do is adapt it. The VueJS programmer your team assigned has done NOTHING about the code. I have not seen anything about the builder, all your team shows me every time is the admin dashboard.
I deeply regret having accepted your company's proposal one year ago. As I mentioned in October, I would prefer to get my money back and start looking elsewhere because I don't see results.
PLEASE, talk with your team and let me know your thoughts.
Rodrigo Gomez
April Meeting
After 2 times cancelation meeting from Viveka, I accepted to have the meeting with Swaraj Gupta (Associate Director- Technology) and I read him the following message on April 28, 2025. I asked to record the meeting to have an anwser from Viveka Nand (Associate Vice President-Delivery) in two days, but never happened.
The first quotation was made in 2023 for $20,000 USD. In January 2024, I received a promotion from your sales department offering 20% off and I accepted. I paid $4,000 USD in January and $4,000 USD in April 2024. The proposal said that the project will be finished in 100 business days, which means 20 weeks or 5 months. Since february 2, 2024, we have 14 months, and at maximum we have 20% of the project. The proposal said it'll be 4 payments and it'll be for the different sprints. That is, payment in advance, and every time 30% of the project is completed, a payment would be made. So far, two $4,000 USD payments have been paid, but we don't have 50% of the project, we have 25% maximum. Even if I sent you the Github links with the code to create an avatar you never did it. I had a conversation with my investors, and they're very upset about this situation. They want ME to refund them, but I don't have $8,000 USD. So I convinced them that if we invest $8,000 USD more, we'll use better technology to develop the software. They'd rather move forward and they accepted, but because WE no longer TRUST your company, there are conditions. For us, it would be better to continue developing the avatar creator in Vue.js If you decide it's better to do it on Unity it's ok, We agree to pay 8K more, but we won't pay any money until we see these 4 functionalities working:
- Place your photo,
- start creating the avatar with our own face features,
- with the moving or rotating feature working,
- and the backend working with the proper CSS developed for the builder.
Meeting May 6, 2025
I had a meeting with Viveka and we agreed:
- To continue working with a different language (not Vue.JS)
- To deliver the backend
- They proposed a plan to pay the Unity development
On May 16, Viveka post a message telling me:
Hi Rodrigo Gomez Thank you for your email and yes post our call I have realigned the backend team on the project and they are getting it ready for you to share. Also for front end we have checked but we will have to move with Unity for the required details and as discussed I will get the upfront amount reduce so you see progress on that before next milestone. Regards, Viveka Upadhyay AVP
On May 18, I replayed Viveka telling him:
Hi Viveka Upadhyay, The backend is a critical component for my investors. Before we can move forward with anything related to Unity, we need to see the backend fully developed and operational with the features outlined in the FSD document you provided:
- Authentication (page 6)
- Sign Up (page 6)
- Verification (page 7)
- Sign In (page 8)
- Forgot Password (page 8)
- Password Reset (page 8)
On May 19, Viveka post a message telling me:
Hi Rodrigo Gomez Thank you for sharing these points and I would update you that these features on backend is already completed. I am getting a document created where we will put the screenshot of it along with video so you can show it to your investor. I will get this shared with you in this week and if needed will connect on call as well. Regards, Viveka Upadhyay AVP
On May 20, I replayed Viveka telling him:
Hi Viveka Upadhyay, Just to be clear... They don't want to watch a video, they want to see it up and running.
On May 29, I replayed Viveka telling him:
Hi Viveka Upadhyay, It has been 10 days since your last message and I'm still waiting for your news. I have a meeting next Wednesday with my investors to show them the back end. Please let me know how it goes everything. Rodrigo
On May 30, Viveka post a message telling me:
Hi Rodrigo Gomez Thank you for your follow up message. As updated you in between because of our discussion on way ahead the backend team was reallocated, however I have asked the resouces to get the backend code files ready to share so you can discuss with investor on the backend work done and plan for unity work. I will get this shared with you by Tuesday/Wednesday for your review. Regards, Viveka Upadhyay AVP
On June 5, Viveka Upadhyay sent me a link with the files.
On June 6, I told viveka, we need to see the backend fully developed and OPERATIONAL with the features outlined in the FSD document they provided. Is useless to show my investors just the files. I sked him, install the files in a server and send me the link to see it working. This never happened and they sent me an old DEMO link.
On June 6, Viveka Upadhyay sent me an old DEMO link.
On June 6, I replayed Viveka telling him: I can't show this demo, nothing is working. There is no LOGIN button to confirm. Forgot your password is not working. I accessed just by clicking the USER word. I already checked and this is the same demo Seema shared with me on MARCH 21st. I already showed this demo to my investors and that is why you and I agreed on May 6: To see the full backend demo up and running this week. According to you you have been working on the backend and it is finished but it is not. The deal on May 6 was to finish the backend before continuing. Please ask your programmers to install the files you sent me and send me the link again.
I never received a reply, and I never saw the backend up and running.
Why I'm asking 100% refund?
The main reason is simple, Webmobril didn't deliver the product. They did 20% of the project and is useless for me. I won't accept any file from webmobril because the agreement was to deliver a final product, not a piece of the product. As I mentioned before, my investors are asking me for a refund and the non-compliance is Webmobril fault, that is why I'm asking for a 100% refund ($8,000 USD). I created a REFUND TICKET on September 20, 2025 informing Jay Saraswat (CEO), Ravi Saraswat (MD), and Ajay Saraswat (COO).
